Oyo government, attend to this area

ADEYEMO is a rapidly developing area in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. One of the locations in Molete, the area is peopled by inhabitants of different ethnic backgrounds. The residents apparently support the Senator Abiola Ajimobi-led government’s transformation agenda.

The road that connects other parts of the city with Adeyemo is in a sorry state. For both young and old, plying the only road that links Molete to other parts of the city is not only arduous but also tormenting.

The young ones, particularly school children living in the area, are usually those that suffer most from the dilapidating road that serves the ever-increasing population of Adeyemo.

The residents are often worried by the thought of commuting on the road at the dawn of each day.

They are often gripped by the fear of falling off commercial motorcycles that reluctantly ply the road because of its horrible condition.

And as expected, okada (motorbike) riders plying the road cash in on its deplorable state, fleecing residents the who must of a necessity ply the road for different reasons.

Sometime in the distant past, the government indeed came to the rescue of the residents of Adeyemo by rehabilitating the road. But their joy was short-lived because the road was torn apart barely a week after the rehabilitation.

For government to find a lasting solution to the road, drainages should be constructed on both sides of the road to ensure free flow of water. This will prevent the main road from being washed away by erosion during the rainy season.

Besides, the road should be expanded to enhance smooth vehicular movements to and from Adeyemo Layout.

The bad condition of the road, it will be recalled, has led to several accidents involving motorbikes and cars, resulting in fatalities.

I, therefore, appeal to the listening government of Senator Ajimobi to extend the dividends of democracy to Adeyemo community through the rehabilitation of the only main route linking Adeyemo with other parts of the state.

This will put a stop to the pain and trauma being endured by the residents.
