Governor Makinde
In improving security, the Oyo State government has extended its Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance of the state to the Tollgate end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Asejire end on the Ibadan-Ife road.
Prior to the addition of two coverage locations, the existing CCTV covered areas to include Beere, Molete, Oke-Ado, Challenge, Iwo Road, Agodi Gate, Ojoo, Mokola, Mapo and Sango.
This extension of coverage location came to the fore when Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state inaugurated the expanded state control room at Oyo state security trust fund headquarters, Onireke, Ibadan, on Thursday.
Speaking, Makinde, however, spoke of plans to extend the coverage of the state to border points and far-flung parts of the state.
He urged security agencies to effectively use the expanded facility to curb rape, armed robbery and other criminalities in the state.
Makinde noted that the control room was reconfigured to have its own communication mast thereby saving the state from paying N350 million monthly as an Internet subscription.
The event also saw Makinde inaugurate the Oyo State Crime Alert platform aimed at facilitating emergency rescue.
Speaking at the event, Special Adviser to Makinde on Security, Mr Fatai Owoseni explained that the CCTVs across the various locations will enable security agencies to pick number plate of vehicles and aid traffic management.
Owoseni pointed out that the crime alert platform will engender a quick response of security agencies to crime locations.
