The Ijesha North Traditional Council in Osun State has described the restless efforts of Oyetola’s administration in reaching out to the masses as unique and commendable.
The council also urged the government to consider the establishment of community centres to perform complementary roles in community engagement.
This was revealed at a governor’s family meeting with informal groups and farmers’ association organized by the Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on civic engagement, Hon Olatunbosun Oyintiloye at Ibokun Town Hall, Obokun Local Government.
Oba Festus Kayode Awogboro, the Alademure of Ibokun Land the current president of Ijesa North Traditional Council who spoke on behalf of the council, said Oyetola has used his civic engagement approach in the administration of the state to foster inclusive and participatory governance.
“It is no doubt that Oyetola means well for the good people of Osun which is why he’s leaving no stone unturned in ensuring their opinions, dispositions and interests are always protected through the regular interface which will always offer the government their direct feelers during the policy formulation process.
“This is a further testament to Oyetola’s democratic posture and people-centred inclination which had been seen in his policies and programs so far,” he added.
Oba Festus while underscoring the importance of creating community centres, said the initiative would give a virile platform for people at the grassroots to have limitless opportunities to lend their voice and interests known in the state governance activities.
“Such a centre, when situated in every community, will complement the civic engagement drive of the government being an institutional mechanism of collecting and capturing the pressing needs of every community in the process of authoritative allocation of values,” he said.
The monarch, however, gave kudos to the governor for approving the road linking Obokun local government with Ifelodun counterpart, beseeching the governor not to relent in his quests to make life better for the people through the construction of more roads, provision of empowerment for youths and women among other life-changing policies and programs.
Speaking at the event, the Osun State Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers who doubles as the Southwest Chairman, Com. Folorunsho Olalekan eulogised Oyetola for his listening quality, a virtue he described as a unique and invincible strength of the governor.
While commending him for his proactive intervention in the road infrastructure which had been a great impact on the state transport industry, he entreated him to help their industry with vehicles that would serve as a support system.
In his submission, the consultant to the cluster of some artisan groups, Mr Famakinwa Lateef appreciated the governor for his wondrous performance in all sectors of the state economy as well as the way he’s identifying with the informal groups through his institution of civic engagement, urging him to provide more value-added benefits for the growth of their businesses.
Cross-section of farmers and artisans who spoke at the event also described the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as the one which places a premium on the masses, as they sought agricultural inputs, soft loans and grants to serve as a catalyst for the development of their enterprise.
In his remarks, the special adviser cued the people on Oyetola’s commitment to engendering a government that works for all by the means of participatory and inclusive governance, reiterating that the governor will not relent in making policies and programs which are in tandem with the true reflection of people’s tenet.
Oyintiloye then assured the people that their demands and aspirations would be given optimum consideration.
