Osun LG crisis: Davido makes U-turn, commends Police Commissioner

Published by

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reversed his stance on Osun State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Umar Abba, after earlier criticising him over the ongoing political crisis in the state.

In a statement shared on his verified X account late Monday, the singer acknowledged that the security agencies, led by the Commissioner of Police, had done their best to manage the situation.

He tweeted, “I now see that the issue is more than that of the Commissioner of Police or other security chiefs. The needless killings of today angered me so deeply that I thought such should have been nipped in the bud. Yet,I can see that  the security agencies led by the Commissioner of Police put in their best and deserve commendation.”

Tribune Online reports that the singer had in a series of tweets earlier in the day criticised the police chief, accusing him of playing a role in the crisis.

The ‘Unavailable’ crooner while calling out the police chief had earlier tweeted, “Mr commissioner respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us !! Make we all kuku mad !! MEN MOUNT WALAI TO KRF!!! I will post u everyday everywhere Mr man !!! Try me fucker.”

In another tweet, he wrote, “Mr Umar abba osun state commissioner u are a disgrace to ur children !! !!! Game on FUCKER !!!! All of us go mad together !! Werey!!!”

The controversy erupted after Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, accused former governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of plotting to reinstate sacked local government chairmen in collaboration with the state’s security heads.

Governor Adeleke had warned that Oyetola and the security chiefs should be held responsible for any breakdown of law and order in the state.
