Osun: Headless woman’s body leaves residents of Oke-baale in fear

Residents of Oke-baale, Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, now live in perpetual fear following the discovery of the headless body of a yet-to-be-identified woman in the area on Tuesday.

The lifeless body of the woman, whose pubic hair had been shaved by the perpetrators of the inhuman act, is yet to be evacuated from the scene of the incident as of the time of filing this report.

The deceased, whose body was found at the back of some shops built opposite the Osogbo local government council secretariat in the area, attracted a mammoth crowd who trooped to the scene to sympathize and mourn the departed soul.

The development has forced shop owners and other traders around the vicinity to desert their shops and trading activities for the day as they appeal to the appropriate authorities to speedily help in the evacuation of the body before it decomposes.

Many motorists, especially commercial vehicle operators and Okada riders plying the route where the incident happened, reportedly parked their vehicles and motorcycles to witness what happened and rain curses on the evil doers.

A resident of the area who identified himself as Sola told our reporter that the victim had been homeless for some months and had been living beside the road to beg for alms.

He, however, appealed to security operatives to investigate, arrest the perpetrators, and bring them to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

Speaking on the incident, the state police public relations officer, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, in a statement in Osogbo said: “The police are aware of the dead body of a headless and armless woman found opposite Osogbo local government secretariat, Oke Baale.”

“I want to inform you that the police are aware. The necessary authorities have been contacted for the immediate evacuation of the corpse, while discreet investigation is ongoing.”

She promised that the police would not relent in fishing out the killers and bringing them to book.
