The wife of Osun State Governor, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola, on Thursday, charged parents to always give adequate attention to their children saying, parental care is profitable to the greatness of children in life.
Mrs Kafayat who made the charge while fielding questions from journalists during the Tafsir programme, held at the government house, Osogbo, noted that lack of parental care, guidance and support has had a negative impact on the development of the nation’s children.
She, however, appealed to every parent to take their responsibilities seriously to be able to make our children more productive in any society they might have found themselves.
The first lady expressed sadness to the way and manner young boys are out at the corners engaging in, not only idleness but becoming soldiers for the gangs that operate in inner-city, communities due to lack of parental care.
She also worried about the neglect of female girls by their parents and called on them to give them an expected sense of belongings to make them fit in their immediate environments.
Speaking on the significance of the Ramadan lecture, Mrs Oyetola said, the programme was organised to tap from the knowledge of Islamic scholars who were invited to educate people in a way of Allah and to give back to the people.
She, therefore, called on Muslims faithful to continue to pray for the state during the month of Ramadan.
“Generally, during the period of Ramadan, it’s always good to give and show love to people. We are all one, for the betterment of society we should try to assist one another.
“Mes Kafayat, however, maintained that, “this is a holy month and the month of forgiveness. My advice to the Muslims is to continue to obey the law of God, fear God, love one another and stay away from sin.”
