Osun State House of Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Hon. Najeem Salam, has embarked on recess till October 2, 2018.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the Osun Assembly made it known on Wednesday at the Osun Assembly Complex.
While making the pronouncement after the completion of the House’s Joint Committee on Public Account and Local Government meeting, the Speaker, Hon. Salam, who spoke through his Deputy, Hon. Akintunde Adegboye, thanked members of the joint committee and all members of the Assembly for a job well done.
In their separate comments, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Olalekan Afolabi, and his counterpart on Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adebayo, jointly described the process of accessing the income and expenditures of the constituted authorities at the local government level as a success.
They recommended for the training of local government staff members to further key into the new parliamentary system.
The Osun Assembly, however, frowned at the Chairman of Ede North Local Government and his team who refused to show up for the exercise, directing the Clerk of the House to write him for his explanation on why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
It congratulated Muslim faithful in the state for the Eild’ll Kabir coming up next week.
The Osun Assembly House also felicitated with all traditional worshipers particularly in Osogbo over the 2018 Osun-Osogbo festival coming up on Friday, it urged celebrants to celebrate peacefully and ensure that they are law-abiding in their conducts.
In the same vein, the Osun Assembly House which described the current moment of the state as a sensitive time as it prepares for the September 22 gubernatorial election urged indigenes and residents of the state to shun violence before, during and after the poll.
