Osun arithmetic favours Omisore, but…(2)

THE September 22 election should be about the future of Osun State, and the outcome, will, without doubt, come with multiple implications. What is clear, however, is that not all the leading actors in the game of numbers, are thinking the future of the state and their antecedents suggest they should not be anywhere near the broth in the first place.

But the led have lost the plot, long before now, to their oppressors, self-robed as leaders. Politicians have got the people where they wanted and until something tragically-shocking happens to the polity and politics as currently structured, the people would have to make do with whatever the political class puts forward, even when such, should be deemed, surplus-to-requirement.

Osun contest is an open race, or how does one describe a five-way race? The show-of-force by the leading candidates using the crowd circus will be of no-moment when the real field battle begins. I predict the security agencies will be active in the field-war. Battles lost at polling booths can be turned around at collation centres by the gun-carriers. Osogbo will be the final battleground when final results are being collated. Once uncooperative party agents are dispersed with teargas and live ammunition, on the pretext of a security breach like the Edo Wonder, the winner desired by Abuja, which controls all illegal election-winning levers in the country today, would be announced.

The rest of the field would be asked to seek judicial redress. Posted results on social media would be dubbed fake by INEC which would counsel everyone to wait for the official results. Paid internet trolls would engage higher gears, to discredit credible and genuine results, unofficially released to the public through social media. They had done it before. They will do it again. They are in business of discrediting the truth and magnifying lies. They will still likely get away with another stolen item in Osun State. But they won’t forever be successful. Someday, they would get God to choking rage and He would overturn their cups of deceit. This is a prophecy and the appointed time is near.

Here is a truth to leading candidates like Omisore, with bookmakers’ chances of creating an upset. If they aren’t in Abuja’s favoured book, an alternative that would match the monstrosity to be unleashed from the central power centre must be created, to balance terror. Noise would not cut it. AyodeleFayose missed this all-important strategy and paid dearly for it. When a terror-husband chooses to play deaf and dumb, the SOS of the suffering wife becomes a nuisance to the ear.

With the general mindset in the land that all politicians rig, anyone from the political class shouting and mouthing rigging would always cut the clown imagery. Ask Fayose. Before the Ekiti poll, he was a sought-after conscience-of-the-nation. When cornered during the poll and he cried, he became a national ridicule. Can someone learn from the ants?

Abuja, precisely, President MuhammaduBuhari and his corner, definitely, has an arm and a leg in Osun poll. Leading candidates who aren’t into nocturnal conviviality with either the president or his men should realistically forget the election, if the invaders from Abuja are not number one on the list of the electoral opposition, to be tackled and dunked.

It is likely some candidates might be thinking people’s revolution if the votes are stolen by Abuja. Such conviction would be at best, comical and idiotic. Vote thieves around now are doing much better than whatever the late Ibadan political enigma, LamidiAdedibu represented. The Molete power-house was legendary in the mastery of “win anyhow and fight to keep mandate.”Osun election would be won anyhow and somehow leadership would be provided.

But unholiness from Abuja can be prevented. Dibokosebe (votebuying) can be defeated, despite the fact that nothing would stop its gangrenous spread. If phones are barred from voting booths, what about mini-Okija bribe-distribution centres that will certainly spring up, hours to the poll. If you did Okija business and thought you could swing things behind INEC’s covered arena, you are certainly on your own, especially if you had no God’s cover. And who is that genuine child of God that would go into monkey business for the sake of a pot of soup, which highest potential is asamegun (biscuit bones).

The best man won’t win Osun election. “Best” in itself, would be eternally-subjective and aggregately-relative. The men on the front row in the election have their highs and lows. If Omisore could get the votes to count, he would definitely be bruised, but could hobble into Abere. MoshoodAdeoti of ADP could stroll in, if Abuja chose to do “total” business with him. GboyegaOyetola of APC could be carried in, if Abuja wasn’t hell-bent on effecting a pre-supposing agenda. And the boogie-man? Somebody should just watch out for that damaged fellow. If My Father in heaven decided to confound the supposed wise, with the foolish thing in this election, the sophomore of the Certificate-less Alumni Association (CAA), could stage his biggest owanbe concert at his Ede fortress on the night of September 22, leaving the rest of the confounded world, asking Governor-elect Ademola who?. That cherry-picker’s journey in Osun politics is too cryptic to be ignored. He is the “against all odds” candidate. But who knows?

If the future of the people of the state of Osun will matter in this election, God Himself would be merciful, to be fully involved. You think I’m engaging in religious escapism. Wait until you hear of desperate measures going into winning the election by candidates with zero public service records; deficient and deficit in all that is honourable. Even in Ilesa, the land of honour and home to the “honourable” beer (trouble trophy), politicians sired of omoowa, omoekun (indisputable greatness) essence, though with umbilical cords buried elsewhere, are desecrating sacred memories and fouling hitherto uncontaminated space. May God be merciful to us all.

While I have preferences in the election, I desire God’s candidate would, win.
