ACTING President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, met with Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, over the ongoing 2017 budget consideration in the National Assembly.
The meeting which took place in the Vice President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, came barely 24 hours after Dogara and Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan, met Osinbajo over the same issue on Monday.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Saraki confirmed that Tuesday’s meeting was on the economy and the budget.
He remarked that the process of budget defence has just begun hence the need for consultations with the acting President.
Saraki said the consultation was particularly necessary since the government’s economic team would soon be proceeding on a road show.
The Senate President said: “We are meeting on the economy and the budget, myself, the Vice President and the Speaker, minister of budget and minister of finance.
“We are aware that the economic team will soon be going on a road show and just to brief us and let us know the issues and just carry us
along.
“We have just started the defence defence so there are no issues, these are just consultations.”
