Akinlade
The Yoruba saying that he who intends to clothe another must first show that he’s clothed, which further affirms the locus that one can not give what he or she does not have. These proverbs are more relative to the life and conducts of this Ogun state politician cum agro-entrepreneur, Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade.
As evident, every election comes with its own peculiarities and we can not shy away from political scheming but when it is taken to a different level, caution is required. Despite concerted efforts to frustrate his ability to run in 2023, adverse outcome of the 2019 general elections, Akinlade has refused to lose focus on what he deems important and beneficial to the good people of Ogun State.
Akinlade is happily married to his long time friend and confidant, their union is blessed with three wonderful children. The deliberate choice of his partner and timing of their nuptial tie shows he is a man who think things through and detailed. It is no gainsaying that; the ability to live a purposeful life is hinged on the type of partner one settles for in life. To Triple A, a purposeful life is not measured by one’s wealth or material acquisitions but based on the quality of one’s life, ability to lift others and living peacefully with all, starting from the family.
Loyalty has been the watchword of Triple A in life. He is a consistent politician of repute who doesn’t betray trust or jump ship even when the tides are high. He has been an ardent SIAst (an acronym for Senator Ibikunle Amosun loyalist) ever since he joined politics many years ago. He is true to his character by standing firm with his principal, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and redefining the political discourse in Ogun State and beyond. Despite many ups and down, Akinlade is loyal to convictions and people, therefore, redefining what loyalty should be in Nigeria modern times.
Dignity is the intuition of knowing what to do at each critical moment in life. While many Nigerian politicians are eager about political patronage and attention after losing in a contest, Akinlade simply opted for farming and redeveloping himself. His passion has always been to invest in rural community growth and showing the younger generations that true wealth lies in the communities.
Akinlade also understands that; the use of technology in agricultural value advancement is the way in future, thus he is setting aside a chunk of his income from his farm to train young adults in field of hybrid feeds development, artificial insemination in animal blood line improvement, high yield produce and so on. His vision is to nurture a new breed of value oriented Ogun State indigenes, grow the state’s internally generated revenue IGR while investing and promoting agro based entrepreneurs across the state.
Governance being a serious affair that requires diligence, experience and management of resources denotes that its leader must have salient values and proven skills to stare the ship of Ogun State come 2023. Triple A has carved a niche for himself by reshaping the ideas of political leadership among his people by returning to the ruling All Progressives Congress after exploring all legal means open to him to reverse the unholy outcome of the 2019 election. He simply stepped back to observe, advise and contribute his modest quota when the need arises.
Akinlade’s belief is captured in his popular saying that; “we do not have another Ogun State aside this and we must do everything to ensure she progresses at all times whether we are in government or not”. For Triple A, transparency, dignity, courage, stability and integrity are his guiding principles at all times. His passion for an optimal administration has made him build a behavioral insight and capable team of young minds with full hands on desk to rejuvenate the dwindling fortunes of the state come next contest and beyond. Through a strong resolve to leverage on the innovative capabilities of the younger generation, Triple A is teaming mainly with youths to chart a new path for our dear State should the opportunity arise in 2023.
We today celebrate this unique leader that walks the talk, doing things differently with ultimate hope for a better outcome, who is ready to advance new frontiers of the rebuilding missions when the state eventually overcomes this present hurdle. As Adekunle Akinlade turns 52 today, we pray that God continues to uphold and strengthen him because he is a leader worthy of emulation. We are indeed proud of you sir.
