Ondo NSCDC arrests eight over illegal bunkering, pipelines vandalism

Men of the Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested eight members of a syndicate who specialised in the vandalisation of petroleum pipelines and illegal bunkering.

The men were arrested in Olowo Community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state where they operate illegal dump/storage facilities.

Disclosing this in a statement, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in the state,  Daniel Aidamenbor, said all the suspects were arrested during an operation of the corps, saying all the suspects would be charged to court at the end of the investigation.

According to him, “Eight suspects were arrested at the scene loading the suspected adulterated products into storage. A black Toyota Sequoia with registration number, Lagos APP 134 DX, loaded with 70 kegs of 25 litres of adulterated automated gas oil (diesel), 28 kegs of 25 litres each of suspected adulterated AGO were moved from the crime scene.”

He disclosed that six pumping machines, one cutting machine, five drums of 200 litres of suspected AGO, and two storage tanks with 3500 litres of adulterated AGO each were also recovered from suspected vandals.

He said underground storage tanks containing 20,800 litres of adulterated Automated Gas Oil (AGO) were also uncovered.

Aidamenbor maintained that the command was committed to the fight against oil theft, oil bunkering and all acts of illegal dealings in petroleum products in the state.
