The Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC), Ondo State axis, Oluwarotimi Joshua has condoled with the Ondo State students community and Ikale North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) over the death of a former chairman of the Ondo NANS JCC and acting chairman of the Ikale north LCDA, Abiodun Owonola.
In a statement issued in Ondo on Tuesday, Oluwarotimi paid tribute to the deceased who he described as a former leader of NANS whose impact remains indelible.
He described the former NANS Ondo JCC chairman who passed on today as a visionary leader with unwavering dedication to the progress and welfare of students.
Adding that his leadership style, during his tenure as NANS Ondo JCC Chairman, is characterised by selflessness, courage, and equity.
“On behalf of the leadership and members of NANS JCC Ondo State Axis, Ondo JCC Chairman, I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and colleagues of Abiodun Owonola also known as Equity. We also sympathise with the people of Ikale North LCDA and the entire Ikale community for losing a hero who worked relentlessly for their advancement.
“The tragic news of his passing in the early hours of Tuesday, December 10, 2024, has left a deep void in the student community and the Ikale North LCDA. Comrade Equity was a remarkable leader whose impact during his tenure as NANS JCC Ondo Chairman remains indelible. He was a staunch advocate for student’s rights and tirelessly championed their cause, ensuring that the voices of Nigerian students were heard at both state and national levels.
“Comrade Owonola Abiodun Emmanuel was more than just a leader; he was an inspiration to all who worked with him. His passion for justice and equity earned him widespread respect and admiration. He dedicated his life to the service of students, his community, and humanity at large. His passing is not just a loss to his immediate family but to the entire student community and the Ikale people.
“As we mourn this great loss, we also celebrate the life of a man who dedicated himself to the noble cause of service. His legacy of courage, compassion, and commitment to the betterment of society will continue to inspire us
“The passing of Comrade Equity is a reminder of the profound impact one individual can have on society. His leadership in NANS JCC Ondo set a standard of excellence and integrity that all student leaders should aspire to emulate.
“We, the leadership of NANS JCC Ondo, pledge to uphold the values and vision that Comrade Equity stood for. His memory will continue to inspire us to work towards a future where justice, equity, and progress are paramount.
“In these challenging times, we prayed for divine comfort for the family and loved ones of Comrade Equity. He expressed hope that the Lord would grant the departed eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
“The student community in Ondo State and beyond has lost a leader whose passion, determination, and commitment to service were unparalleled. As we bid farewell to Owonola Abiodun Emmanuel, 0we take solace in the fact that his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the causes he championed.
“Rest in peace, Comrade Equity. Your leadership, kindness, and vision will forever be etched in our hearts. May your soul find eternal peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement reads.
