Akeredolu, Owo, Ondo
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, on Wednesday, inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign committee, charging the members of the Committee to hammer on his administration achievements to canvass for votes from the people of the state to secure his re-election as governor of the state.
Akeredolu who urged the 957 -member council to move to the hinterlands to explain the significance of the people at the grassroots the various interventions projects initiated and executed by his government, with a pledge to bring governance closer to the grassroots.
Akeredolu who stated this during the inauguration of the committees for his re-election held at the International Culture and Event Center (DOME) in Akure, the state capital, said his government would embark on physical projects to provide facilities which would contribute to improving the economic status of individuals at the grassroots.
He said:” Our administration has made the job of canvassers very easy. Our people, especially in the hinterland, continue to heave a sigh of relief from the debilitating effects of neglect occasioned by misplacement of priorities in the immediate past
“This government has been able to convince all and sundry on the possibility of impactful presence in every nook and cranny of the State, despite the paucity of funds.
“Prudent management of scarce resources and determination to make the people the focus of governance have yielded bountiful results which even those, who are prone to being cynical concerning the sincerity of the government in all things, agree are imperishable.”
He noted that the committee is made up of committed youths with capacity, alongside experienced politicians from the three Senatorial zones in the state, who have been carefully selected to canvass votes and ensure victory for APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
Also speaking, one of the party’s governorship aspirants, Chief Olusola Oke, who expressed optimism on the re-election of Akeredolu said the APC will emerge victorious in the election saying Akeredolu’s performance, reconciliation and consultation with stakeholders had made the job of the committee to be a less easy task.
According to Oke, who said the state cannot afford to throw away or trade the rich experience of Akeredolu in place of experimentation, and said the success of Akeredolu in the forthcoming governorship election would determine the future of APC in the state.
He said “the governor has acquired experience and we cannot throw this away and opt for experimentation.
“There is a great challenge ahead of us and the only way to do this is to deliver our wards, units, local government and senatorial district.
“I want to assure you that I will deliver my ward, local government and my senatorial district. We must go to our various unit, it is operation deliver and we must deliver”

Earlier in their opening addresses, Chairman of the party, Hon. Ade Adetimehin who is the chairman of the campaign and the Campaign Director General, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan emphasized the need for the committees and the members to work together to record success.
In his goodwill message, former Governor of the state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi said all members of the party must come together for the APC and its candidate, Akeredolu, to emerge victorious in the forthcoming election.
Another former Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo said the Governor’s re-election is a project for all members of the party, adding that the party must complete its eight years in office.
Immediate past Chairman of the party, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke said the party cannot afford to fail with the arrays of leaders it parades in support of Akeredolu’s re-election
Kekemeke said “Let give your best collectively and individually to coast to victory in the October 10 governorship election.
“The forthcoming election is not only about Akeredolu but about the renewal of our mandate and we must ensure the success of the party in this election.
Let’s win well so that the election will not be contested anywhere. We cannot afford to fail, we can’t slip into opposition
“If in 2016 Akeredolu wins without this kind of unity, it will be a disgrace if we cannot win now with this kind of unity in the party. We have all come together to ensure success for Akeredolu and our party.
“Let’s us go to our people and turn ourselves to an evangelist, canvassing for the governor, the facts are there, with what he has done. There are so many things to point to as our achievements
“Let’s forgive ourselves and do this together. The governor has gone well by bringing every little group together and I don’t see any reason why we must not win. We must work hard even though we have everything working for us”
