Okowa to Buhari: It’s great injustice to run NDDC without constituted board

Published by

Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has described as injustice for the Federal Government to continue to run the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) without constituting the board as required by law.

Okowa stated this, on Friday, while hinting at the discussions he had with Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State during the inauguration of projects, on Thursday, in parts of Delta State.

“As we work to continue to develop the states of the South-South geopolitical region, yesterday (Thursday), I was delighted to welcome my dear friend and brother, Governor Udom Emmanuel, for the inauguration of roads, bridges, and schools in Agbarho and Oleh.

“During the visit, we spoke extensively about the need for President Muhammadu Buhari to reconstitute the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) without further delay.

“This is because it is a great injustice to the people of the Niger Delta region for the Federal Government to continue to run the NDDC without a constituted board as the current sole administratorship is not recognized by the establishing law.

“Moving forward, the NDDC board must be reconstituted to allow full representation of all the affected states, and to address the numerous agitations of the countless communities and stakeholders that fall under the commission’s purview,” he noted in his official Facebook handle.
