Abiodun and Akinlade
THE governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Hon Abdulkabir Akinlade, will know fate on Saturday, as the Ogun State Governorship Election Tribunal is set to deliver judgment Saturday.
Akinlade had approached the tribunal in a petition marked EPT/OG/GOV/01/19 contesting alleged over voting during the March 9 governorship election, and Abiodun’s lack of qualification to contest in the election.
The Justice Yusuf Halilu-led panel had on the 19th of August reserved judgment after all the parties had adopted final written addresses before the tribunal.

The Tribunal Secretary, Nyior Henry Sekulla, confirmed to newsmen in Abeokuta, on Tuesday, that the three-man panel had fixed the ruling for Saturday.
Akinlade through his lead counsel, Mike Osuman SAN, during the adoption of his final written address, urged the tribunal to disqualify Abiodun as a candidate in the March 9 poll, invalidate his victory and return him as the duly elected governor of the state.
However, lead counsel to Abiodun, Prof Taiwo Osipitan SAN, described the APM’s petition as dead on arrival and urged the Tribunal to dismiss it.
