ODCHC hails Akeredolu for giving priority to health sector

The Director-General, Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Abiodun Oyeneyin, has maintained that the State Contributory Health Commission, remains part of the success story of the present administration, saying the state government has been giving priority to the health of the workers in the state.

The Head, Media Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Foyeke Kolawole, in a statement, said Oyeneyin stated this during a workshop for staff and workers of the commission.

According to Kolawole, she said the workshop was organised to optimise the health insurance scheme in the state, said the state government has changed the face of health insurance management in the state through the development of primary healthcare centers in the state.

She said Oyeneyin reiterated that the administration’s commitment to reshaping the state health sector, particularly by creating a sustainable funding mechanism that lowers the financial barriers to healthcare for the citizenry.

He said the scheme was designed for public servants in the state, as part of his administration’s commitment to a qualitative, improved and accessible healthcare system for the citizens of the state.

He maintained that it is the duty of a responsible and responsive government in a developing country like Nigeria, to be able to create a sustainable funding mechanism that lowers the financial barriers to healthcare for the citizenry.

Speaking on the importance of the workshop put in place for senior and mid-level staff in the commission, the Director-General of the commission said the workshop is geared towards developing strategic visions; setting goals and objectives, designing organisational structure and operational policies to successfully implement the mandate of providing health insurance for all residents of the state.

Oyenyin appreciated the commission’s staff for their support and commitment towards the success story of the scheme, tasking them not to relent on their effort, with a promise to give special attention to their welfare.

He said part of the welfare of staff is to equip them adequately for the task at hand which can only be done by learning and relearning for quantitative delivery.

He said “The Orange Health Insurance Scheme for public servants is fast becoming a household name in the state and all hands need to be on deck for seamless healthcare delivery.

“This will help to improve the productivity of public servants because good health is paramount to discharge one’s duties.”

The lead facilitator, the CEO of Autusbridge Ltd, Mr Olugbenga Johnson, said participants will be able to employ new strategies to move the commission forward, saying participants will be able to confidently think strategically, plan methodologically and implement efficiently.
