NURTW: Court sacks MC Oluomo barely one week in office

Published by

MC Oluomo, the National President of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW), has been sacked by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, just 6 six days after taking office.

The court ruled in favor of Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, declaring him the authentic President of the union.

This decision upholds the Industrial Court’s judgment on March 11, 2024, which recognised Baruwa as the legitimate president.

Interestingly, MC Oluomo was re-elected as the Lagos NURTW Chairman for a second term in November 2023.

However, his position as National President has now been revoked.

The appeal court’s decision was made on November 8, 2024, by a three-member panel, and also included an award of N100,000 against the appellants in favor of the respondents.
