NPA clinches third position at 40th public service games

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA)’s Sports  contingent to the 40th edition of the Annual Public Service Games (FEPSGA) tagged “ Kwara 2021” has finished in the third position, from amongst 54 Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA) which made the medal table in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The FEPSGA 2021 games had over 70 MDAs in attendance of which only 54 of them made it to the medal table.

Speaking at the conclusion of the games recently, NPA Team Manager and the Chief Motivator of the contingent Mr Charles Okaga appreciated the team for performing to their best abilities at the games.

He attributed the turn of event this year mainly to the fact that the NPA team was hurriedly put together, after enjoying only eight days of preparation during which he claimed some core members of the team sustained injuries and had to be dropped few days before the start of the games.

Okaga added that most of the injuries were as a result of the fact that the athletes are mainly over 45 years and above, adding that in the future; management would be persuaded to recruit more of candidates with sporting talents.

Furthermore, the Team Manager also affirmed that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) which came first at this year edition forayed into areas of strength of the NPA team because the organisation is a paramilitary set up whose athletes exercise regularly.

Okaga, however assured that the Authority will devote more time to training in the coming years with the hope of returning to the top of the table.
