Nomad vigilante, Greek gift to Nigeria’s security architecture — Prophet El-Buba

The Convener, Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), Prophet Isa El-Buba, has stated that the creation of the Nomad Vigilante Group by the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore was a Greek gift to the security architecture of Nigeria.

Prophet El-Buba, who stated this at a press conference in Jos, Plateau State, explained that the creation of the Nomad Vigilante Group was insulting to Nigerians’ psyche and the memory of thousands gruesomely killed and displaced by Fulani militias.

He called on all relevant authorities to clamp down on the Miyetti Allah, adding that it is sacrosanct to abort an underhanded and systematic plan to overrun, especially North Central Nigeria, with Fulani militias’ groups seeking to disguise themselves as nomadic vigilantes and consolidate Nasarawa State as a harboring ground and operational foothold given the state’s borders with Plateau, Benue, Kaduna, and the FCT, where there are prevailing security challenges.

The Convener, IBBN, said if the Miyetti Allah or any other Fulani socio-cultural associations were more concerned about the overburdening killings meted out by Fulani militias and the state of security disruption in Nigeria, they should have called their tribesmen suspected to be behind kidnapping and other acts of violence to order.

“For any reason, rather than letting a group like Miyetti Allah float a so-called vigilante group, which can also lead to a vigilante group creation party by all sorts of other similar platforms in the country, we call on President Tinubu to once again consider the reworking of our laws to enable the creation of functional state police across states that can serve everyone.”.

He called on all the state governors of Nigeria to exert their membership in the Nigerian Police Council to make robust, far-reaching contributions as well as oversights and inputs for reforms within the institution that will make it meet up and tackle contemporary internal security challenges in today’s Nigeria being suffered by their respective states in various forms and shapes.

Prophet El-6 commended President Tinubu for outlining the creation of three new specialised police formations for marine, solid mineral, and forest security to complement the regular police force to tackle various facets of insecurity ravaging the country.

“We see this as an indication of a president’s inclination to invest in security. The planned deployment of forest guards with better training and modern technological gadgets and weapons to take back our forests and strengthen security is a heartwarming and most welcomed development, especially since it’s a policy we have previously advocated for.

He further called on the President to prioritise sophistication and adequate funding of the new units and also emphasised the need to create a somewhat hostage rescue security unit(s) comprising all security formations who will be well armed to the teeth and trained in special weapons and tactics to directly confront bandits and seize victims from the den of kidnappers.
