Nigerian breweries donates N40m e-learning studio to UI’s college of medicine

Foremost brewer, Nigerian Breweries Plc, has donated an e-learning laboratory to the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.

The e-learning laboratory, donated to the Biomedical Communication Centre (BCC) of the college, includes facilities such as interactive boards, monitors, computers and accessories, cameras, microphones, headphones, processors, mixers, and more, and is valued at N40 million.

The laboratory, which consists of production and live studio units, is named after Elder Felix Ohiwerei, a highly regarded Nigerian philanthropist and industrialist.

Speaking during the inauguration of the facility situated within the University College Hospital complex recently, the Chairman of Felix Ohiwerei Trust Fund, who is also the Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Hans Essaadi, noted that the laboratory was donated to complement government efforts towards providing quality medical training and research activities in the foremost medical college.

Represented by the company’s Corporate Affairs Director, Mrs. Sade Morgan, the chairman promised that the company would continue supporting the government in any way possible.

In his remarks at the event, UI’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Peter Olapegba, thanked Nigerian Breweries Plc for the donation, describing the contribution as invaluable. While promising to make judicious use of the studio, he urged the company to continue supporting the college.

Additionally, the provost of the college, Prof. Olayinka Omigbodun, expressed gratitude to the donor for its continued support to the college over the years, stating that the studio would significantly enhance learning and teaching in the college.
