The global umbrella Baptist family organisation tagged, Baptist World Alliance (BWA) is set to hold its annual gathering in Nigeria for the first time.
According to the leadership of the church, the global event will see congregants attending from various countries around the world.
The annual gathering scheduled to be held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, and the Baptist International Convention Centre (BICC) on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will commence on July 7 to 12. The major highlight of the programme is the 10th Baptist International Conference on Theological Education (BICTE).
The Baptist World Alliance comprised of 51 million people in 130 countries and 253 member bodies, will be unified by a primary mission to impact the world for Christ.
The event is also expected to offer members of the church across the globe the opportunity to connect through worship prayer, learning, relationship, building, and shared ministry experience.
The president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Reverend (Dr) Israel Akanji stated that the Nigeria Baptist family is pleased to host the global church to further deepen fellowship and bond among the members.
He added that hosting the global Baptist members is intended to leverage the impact of Baptist mission work in Nigeria.
