Nigeria is in complete darkness

Published by

AS a Nigerian and Islamic scholar, I am not happy about the way Nigeria is being governed by our politicians. Nigerians in the diaspora have stopped coming home because of fear of being kidnapped while those in the country are going in hundreds to the various embassies in Nigeria so as to get the necessary documents to leave this nation for the developed countries.

We cannot pretend that nothing is wrong with Nigeria. This time, we need to tell President Muhammadu Buhari the truth that some of his aides cannot tell him because they will not like to offend him. The truth is that the president needs to address the incessant killing of innocent Nigerians; hoodlums are killing our policemen on a daily basis in the South-East, bandits have not stopped killing law-abiding Nigerian citizens, the Nigerian Customs Service have continued to invade Ibadan rice traders shops without minding whose ox was gored.

Everybody is doing what they like; it would make more sense if we all can come out en masse to speak up against those killing us. We are more than them. We must not keep quiet and die in silence. This is getting too much.

President Muhammadu Buhari should see himself as a president of all ethnic groups in Nigeria; he is expected to listen to the complaints of all Nigerians. What exactly is our president really doing in Aso Rock when the lives and properties of the citizens are not secure? We need light to see as some of us have been put in the total darkness. We cannot continue to live in darkness when it is clear that our leaders are using public funds to secure their lives, properties and those of their children, leaving the poor to suffer.
