The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has disclosed that Nigeria is endowed with over 44 mineral resources across over 500 locations including Coal and Gold.
The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Bwari Branch, Engr Halimat Adediran said that Oil is no longer sustainable and its price is susceptible to negative fluctuations.
She made this known during the Maiden Edition of the Annual Public Lecture entitled “Economic Diversification in the Post COVID-19 Era: Special Focus on the Sustainable Development of Nigeria’s Coal and Gold,” organised by its Bwari Branch yesterday in Abuja.
Halimat, therefore, called for concerted efforts to look towards non-oil revenue sources for economic sustainability.
Adediran noted that diversification is long overdue as it is common knowledge that the economy has moved from where it used to be.
The Chairman added that there is a need for deliberate cooperation between Industry, Academia and Practitioners in order to enhance sustainable benefits from mineral deposits in the country especially Coal and Gold.
