The wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, has said that the state government has a lot of plans for the children, adding that they are being included in several policies and programmes of the government that will be unveiled in the coming months.
Hajiya Fatima Bago stated this after an interaction with children at the Niger State Government Orphanage home in Minna, the state capital, as part of activities to commemorate the governor’s one year in office.
According to her, the plans of the government will go a long way in improving the well-being and development of children across the state.
“This is just the beginning. We have not started anything serious yet. We have so many plans for the children, and they will be included in our plans for a new Niger. Better days are ahead for the children of Niger State,” she added further.
Bago mentioned that the Ministry of Women’s Affairs will work with the management of the orphanage to repair some of the damaged parts of the orphanage.
The wife of the governor also gave some food items like rice, beans, noodles, vegetable oil, toiletries, and medication for the upkeep of the orphans in the home.
The Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajiya Titi Auta, said that there are 42 orphans in the orphanage, adding that all of the orphans attend private schools.
She said one of the students wrote the 2024 JAMB and scored 216, while another one is already at the university, and the rest are in primary and secondary schools within the area where the orphanage is located.
She thereby appreciated the wife of the Niger state Governor and the Committee in charge of the one-year anniversary of the Governor for the donations given to the orphans.
