Niger governor Bello promises speedy completion of ongoing projects

Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar has expressed the determination of his administration to complete ongoing projects in the state in ensuring the provision of dividends of democracy for the people.

The governor stated this while inspecting ongoing projects under the health sector in Minna, the state capital.

He inspected ongoing construction works on administrative blocks A, B, and E, female surgical ward, testing and laboratory centres as well as the molecular centre at the General Hospital, Minna.

While emphasizing the need for maintenance and remodelling of the hospital, the governor also directed that the ongoing projects at the hospital must meet international standards in accordance with job specifications and the delivery period contained in the contract.

He said, “We will not compromise standards in our efforts to provide health services to our people.”

He added that his administration has given priority attention towards the provision of improved and affordable health facilities to residents of the state, especially to civil servants.

He said, “It is in line with this that we have also completed the construction of a new Primary Healthcare Development Agency building at the Abdulkareem Lafene State Secretariat Complex in Minna.”

Also inspecting the ongoing construction site of the North Central Multipurpose Diagnostic Centre at the government-owned Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) Specialist Hospital, Minna, being constructed by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Total Nigeria, the governor expressed appreciation to the corporate bodies, highlighting that the project was desirable. 

He said: “I am satisfied with the level of work on the project. The contractors handling the project have promised to deliver it by May this year while equipment would be provided thereafter. So, hopefully, by May/June this Diagnostic Centre will be put to use to the benefit of our people.”
