TOWARDS improved service delivery in research and allied institutions, the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) Ondo, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, has organised a capacity-building workshop for different levels of planners and managers in the education sector.
The six-week long workshop with the theme, “Harnessing Technology for Learning Continuity” cut across head teachers of public primary schools, principals of junior secondary schools, academic and ICT officers, education secretaries, administrative and technical officers as well as finance and accounts officers from different educational institutions across Nigeria.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the workshop, the director-general and Chief Executive Officer of NIEPA, Professor Olivet Jagusah, called on all the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity of the training to develop their professional capacities in Educational Planning Process, Operational Planning and Supporting Education Planning and Implementation.
Represented by the institute’s registrar and secretary to council, Mrs Abimbola Fayanju, the NIEPA boss commended the Federal Ministry of Education and National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo State, for the timely training of members and for providing funds for the workshops.
He also commended the institute’s head of Training and Research Department, Dr Sunday Adegbesan, for a well-organised and successful programme, saying that “the hallmark of NIEPA’s capacity-building programmes is hinged on the effectiveness and efficiency of the resource persons” and facilitators that were trained specially in the art of imparting skills, knowledge and attitudinal change.
According to him, “The anticipated impact we seek to achieve in all our participants and beneficiaries is the outcome of the programme through impact assessment on the job.”
On his part, the head of Training and Research Department, NIEPA, Dr Sunday Adegbesan, expressed confidence that the training would enhance better management of processes and systems in the education sector.
The coordinator, FME-SDGs 4, Khadija Liman, in her closing remarks charged all the participants to ensure that the knowledge they gained is cascaded down at their various institutions.
She said that they needed to be proactive in all senses, especially for the future in terms of growing technology worldwide.
