New Federal University of Technology in Jigawa to be sited in governor’s hometown

With President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval for the establishment of the Federal University of Technology in Jigawa State, the National University Commission (NUC) is set to visit the state. The university is to be sited at Babura, the home town of Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar.

This was contained in a press statement issued signed and made available to Tribune Online in Dutse by the special adviser to the governor on media and publicity, Alhaji Habibu Nuhu Kila. Kila said the information was contained in a letter sent to the Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar which was signed by the Minister of Education,  Malam Adamu Adamu.

According to the statement, the minister of education “has requested for a provision of at least two alternate sites within Babura with a minimum land area of 100 hectares and adequately linked to essential infrastructures, such as access road, national power grid and proximity to a source of water.”

The special adviser added that “In the meantime, the technical team comprising officials from the Ministry of Education, National University Commission and other stakeholders will be visiting the state for on the spot assessment and consultation with the state’s officials to facilitate speedy implementation of the new federal university of technology  in Babura.”
