The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has promised to increased support to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria as a means to boost the manufacturing capacity of the country.
Speaking at the tour of Halibiz facility at industrial layout Idu, Abuja, the Executive Director of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mr Segun Awolowo, noted that it was important for the government to improve support to SMEs in the country in order to create more jobs and also increased the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through export.
Also at the tour were the Managing Director, NEXIM Bank, Abubakar Abba Bello and the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Ms Yewande Sadiku.
While briefing the CEOs, the President of Halibiz Industries, Qs Adamu Aliyu said a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) manufacturing firm like Halibiz Industries that is creating jobs and adding value to the FMCG ecosystem would need Pioneer Status to expand.
Aliyu noted that the company has come up with innovative solutions for scaling up inclusive business in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
He also said the company is also making use of technology to beat longstanding challenges and build on emerging opportunities in an evolving marketplace, adding that it has completely automated its manufacturing process.
The President, therefore, asked the government to award the company pioneer status as support for increased productivity.
He explained that the pioneer status would provide a buffer to enable the timely recoupment of capital investments incurred by the company at the start-up stages.
