NDLEA uncovers large farm of marijuana in Kano

Published by

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered a large farm of marijuana with more than 350 plants in Gwarzo area of Kano State.

The NDLEA said the owner has been arrested and would soon be prosecuted.

Disclosing this on Monday, newly deployed NDLEA Commander in Kano, Malam Isa Likita Muhammad, announced this while featured on a radio program “Barka da Hantsi” monitored in Kano.

Muhammad said not more than a week after his arrival, a large farm of marijuana was discovered in Gwarzo local government with more than 350 plants.

He said: “We just uncovered a large farm of marijuana in Gwarzo and the owner has been arrested and would soon be prosecuted.”

He also disclosed “we have been informed of another farm in a different location we are about to conclude. All of them would face the full weight of the law whenever we are through with the investigation.”

However, when asked on the issue of compromise by some staff of the agency, the NDLEA Commander said the agency has established an in-house mechanism tagged “Internal Affairs” whereby a squad is established in each of the commands to monitor and report any staff of misdemeanour.

Muhammad then urged the people to support the agency with information to aid the fight against illicit drugs, adding that they would be protected but noted that the organization frowned at false information.
