Speaking after the stakeholder meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun state, the President, Ogun state chapter, Prince Adesanya Oduala said, they have directed their members not to pay land use charge and other levies levied against them by the state government and other Agencies until the state Ministry of Finance harmonizes all the levies into a whole.
“We have directed our members that apart from payee and taxes of their staff, they should not pay any dime on land use charge and other levies until the Ministry of Finance harmonizes all the taxes into a whole”
“We have met with the Ministry of Finance and they are of the opinion that we are going to pay and they are presenting 50% payment to the council and a bill in that regard is currently in the House of Assembly awaiting for passage but we are saying no, that we are not ready to pay a dime talk less of 50%” he stated.
Oduala stressed that, the government can go ahead and shut down and take over the schools if that was their next agenda, he added “we formed the largest labour market in the state and we know that they can go that far because the law does not empower them to that extent”
Oduala disclosed that, the state housed over 500,000 approved schools and making life difficult and unbearable for them is not acceptable as they would go to any length to defend their right.
“ The educational sector is improving but for politicians coming out with all manners of ideas and policies to suite their selfish interest” he said.
