A tweet by British model and actress, Naomi Campbell caused a storm on Twitter and other social media on Friday.
The actress had tweeted her photos taken at the Eko Atlantic City with President Muhammadu Buhari and other All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains including Governor Akinwumi Ambode and Senator Bola Tinubu.
The photos did not activate the storm. The accompanying text which suggested that she was invited to the event by the president attracted an instant disclaimer from the Presidency.
Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, in a tweet stressed that “for the sake of clarity, President @MBuhari didn’t invite Ms. Naomi Campbell to any event during his 2-day visit to Lagos State. They only met at the Eko Atlantic City while Mr President was touring the project and she requested to take photos with him.”
Campbell later edited her original tweet removing the bit about her being invited to the event.
“Was a pleasure to meet His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to (at) the launch of Eko Atlantic. Here for Arise Fashion Week,” she tweeted.
