The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Ogun Axis and the National leadership of the National Association Ogun State Students have passed a vote of confidence on the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
“Our expression of confidence and solidarity is not unconnected to the numerous interventions and palpable success recorded in the educational sector,” the students said.
Chairman, National Association of Nigerian Students, Ogun Axis, Comrade Damilola Simeon Kehinde, and National President, National Association of Ogun State Students, Comrade Gbemileke Emmanuel Ogunronbi, stated this in a joint statement issued, on Wednesday, in Abuja.
The students noted that as far as the academic sector is concerned, Dapo Abiodun has been an all-round achiever within the time frame of his emergence till today.
The statement read in part: “Aside from the correction of lopsided policies, financial interventions, creation and execution of ingenious policies and projects among others, the appointments into key positions in the sector is also a big factor in the success accrued to the government.
“Consequently, we also pass a vote of confidence on the Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on Students Matters, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez.
“The aide to the governor being a fellow Comrade is well-grounded in the craft of students structure management and conflict resolution.
“We recognize and acknowledge his efforts in representing our best interests in the state government.
Indeed, the Governor couldn’t have made a better choice.
“We, therefore, urge the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to completely disregard political propaganda disguised as a Students constituency publication calling for the removal of the Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on Students Matters; Comrade Adeyemi Azeez.
“We find it expedient to reiterate that the Governor of Ogun State; Prince Dapo Abiodun should not fall for their gimmicks as their target is to mislead the governor into destroying his defensive wall in the Students constituency.
“The release is nothing but a mishmash and deliberate distortion of facts for mischievous purposes. The misguided and malevolent publication completely differs from the desire and aspiration of actual students in the gateway state.
“We want to emphatically emphasize that Samson Ajasa (Samrich) who addressed the press release is not the Chairman of NANS Ogun and cannot in any way speak for or on behalf of the Association.
“We, however, urge all security agencies to be more proactive in the arrest and prosecution of all dissents masquerading under the umbrella of Students Unionism to cause chaos in the state on the order of their political masters.
“In addition, we will like to emphasize that NANS, NAOSS and all students interest bodies must not be embroiled in partisan politics so as to maintain the essential essence of the organization,” the students stated.
