My 60-year-old Uncle’s smoking habit has been giving me a lot of concern for some time. He has been smoking about a packet of cigarette every day for the past 40 years but he says it doesn’t bother him in any way.  Although he currently has no health issues, I am worried that he might soon develop some problems. Kindly let me know how I can get him to stop smoking.

To stop smoking, one needs a lot of will power, determination and support. As long as your uncle does not see anything wrong in smoking and is not ready to drop the smoking habit, there is very little you can do about it. Your best bet is to encourage him to be ready to stop smoking habit. Once he makes up his mind, then you can support him.
