My problem with vertigo

Each time I get up from my sitting position, I feel giddy and the whole room spins around me. The doctor I saw called it Vertigo. Kindly let me know the cause and the treatment.

Vertigo is often caused by an inner ear problem. It can occur for no known reason and may be associated with age. Causes of inner ear problems include; changing pressure in the inner ear, infections of the inner ear, head or neck injury, migraine headaches, certain medications that cause ear damage.  These symptoms can last a few minutes to a few hours or more and may come and go. Treatment for vertigo depends on what’s causing it. In many cases, vertigo goes away without any treatment. This is because your brain is able to adapt, at least in part, to the inner ear changes, relying on other mechanisms to maintain balance.
