With business back as usual in the music industry, practitioners have continued to roll out music projects massively and one of such is Gbolabo Ogungbile who has attributed the inspiration behind his new Extended Play (EP) to his roots.
The fast-rising music star who is popularly known as BOLG released his debut EP, ‘From the West’ a couple of months ago after a string of singles that had endeared him to many music fans.
As BOLG’s latest music project continues to gain traction on digital music platforms, some observers have commented that if talent were the only criterion for music greatness, then BOLG should be considered an outright great in his own right.
The versatility of the artiste was also lauded on ‘From the West’ as he explored a number of music genres while feeling at home across each track.
Speaking on what inspired the six-track ‘From the West’ EP, BOLG said: “Working on this EP was just like the normal routine of making music. I was working with different producers and recording in different studios but with no title in mind. But listening through the songs again, the touch of my culture was evident all through the songs.
“My culture has had a huge influence on me. I’m a Yoruba boy at heart and I think that influenced my choice of title for the project. I also think that the art direction clearly shows that. My family, my growth from being a child to now, the Ori-Olokun representing the Yoruba heritage and the fact that I schooled at Obafemi Awolowo University among other things,” the singer added.
