My health was under attack while in office ―Ex-FUNNAB VC

Professor Olusola Oyewole

The immediate past vice -chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture (FUNNAB), Abeokuta, Professor Olusola Oyewole, said his health was under different attacks while in office.

He said this on Sunday at a Special Thanksgiving Service held at Divine Heights Bible Church, Abeokuta, of his discharge and acquittance of an alleged case of fraudulent conversion of public property,  abuse of office and misappropriation of funds levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Oyewole, who is the General Overseer of the Church, said he could not sleep neither could he go to the toilet for three months while going through the travails.

“In 2014, they started attacking my health, I couldn’t sleep nor go to the toilet for three months. I experienced big heavily discomfort during the period in which I was under attack.

“I lost about 16kg body weight during the attack.  Not many people knew what I was going through at this period,” he said.

He also added that the finances of the University were equally attacked when a Ghanishee Order was placed on the accounts of the institution.

The ex-VC said, ” My detractors also attacked the finances of the University. There was a Ganishee Order that prevented my administration to touch the University fund. The Order was lifted when I left the system.”

He pointed out that his stance to return a sum of N360 million paid twice as salaries by the Federal Government to the University was the beginning of his travails in the school.

“My first baptism at FUNNAB was when I returned a sum of N360 million paid into the University account twice as salary. They decided to wage war against me for not sharing the money.

“Those who are supposed to be working closely with me started working against me. The conspiracies against me were heavy. All that was written in the petitions against me were lies. Despite the challenges, the University made progress,” the fifth FUNNAB VC said
