My 65 year old father’s feet have been swollen for the past two weeks without any pain. Since he did not injure the feet in any way, we are not suspecting any fracture in the legs. Kindly let me know what could be the cause of his condition and the solution.

A common cause of swollen feet is Congestive heart failure (CHF). CHF develops when the heart ventricles can’t pump enough blood volume to the body. Eventually, blood and other fluids can back up inside the lungs, abdomen, liver and lower body. Kidney failure is another possible cause of swollen feet. A sudden loss of blood flow to the kidneys can prompt kidney failure. This may lead to a loss of the kidney’s ability to filter waste from the blood sufficiently. The body becomes overloaded with toxins if the kidneys can’t do their regular job. CHF and kidney failure can be life-threatening if left untreated. Your father certainly needs an urgent medical attention.
