Motorcycle robbers who spray pepper on victims arrested in Lagos

Two members of an armed robbery gang who specialized in spraying pepper to rob motorcyclists in Lagos State have been arrested.

The suspects had reportedly robbed another of their victims some days ago, when residents of Obasanjo Bridge area of Alagbado arrested and handed them over to the Police.

The spokesperson of the state Police  Command, Ben Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest  of the suspects, adding that the police in the state are on the trail of other members of the gang.

Hundeyin said, “On 15/02/24 at about 07: 30 hrs, a report was received from a motorcyclist that at about  06:30 hrs, two men, who were later identified as Ayuba Oyegbele and Ojo Gbolahan stopped him at Ogo Oluwa, Alagbado that he should take them to Obasanjo bridge.

“However, on getting to the Obasanjo bridge, Ojo Gbolahan came down and pretended as if he wanted to pay the motorcyclist  

“Bit instead, he brought out dry pepper and blew it into the rider’s eyes and in the process, the duo started dragging and beating the rider with the intention of robbing him of his motorcycle 

“Fortunately, the passers-by, who saw how the rider was shouting for help, came around to rescue him while the suspects made attempts to escape .” 

Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police also stated that “They were overpowered and taken to Alagbado Police Station 

“Investigations revealed that the suspects are in the habit of robbing motorcyclists.”
