Missing 400-level UNIOSUN student found dead in Iragbiji

Tragedy struck on Wednesday in Osun State when the corpse of a 400-level student of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Miss Rofiat Adebisi, who was declared missing since last Thursday, was found in Iragbiji community.

Miss Adebisi, who was a student of the university’s College of Education, was said to have attended a religious programme at Ikoyi town, off Ibadan-Ife expressway last week Thursday, but her whereabout since then had remained unknown

However, the discovery of her corpse at Iragbiji last Friday had thrown her family and relatives into confusion, just as the police have commenced investigation into the incident.

When contacted by newsmen over the development, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, on Wednesday, confirmed the discovery of Rofiat’s   corpse, assuring that his men had begun investigation towards finding out the circumstance(s) leading to her death.

The police boss further disclosed that the deceased was not shot, but could not confirm if she was strangulated by her assailants, stressing that the police would require the service of an expert to ascertain the actual cause of her death.

Similarly, the Vice Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Professor Labode Popoola, confirmed the discovery of Rofiat’s corpse, describing the development as shocking and terrible.

Professor Popoola said: “I was informed of the case yesterday, but we are yet to ascertain the actual cause of the death; the police are investigating the incident.”
