Maria Chike Benjamin cries out to fans to take COVID-19 seriously after being detained in Ghana

Published by

Last Sunday, Maria Chike Benjamin was detained in Ghana, after she was alleged to have tested positive for COVID-19. After the allegations, the BBN star took to her Insta story on her page @mariachikebenjamin to share her disappointment over her detainment.

That day, Maria wrote, “To say I am disappointed, upset, hurt and humiliated by the system is an understatement. Please don’t make me lose my cool. It won’t be pretty please.”

Now, few days later, Maria has come out to confirm that she had contracted COVID-19 and would quarantine in Ghana. She wrote on her page, “My heartbeats, I heard you were all concerned about me. Thank you so much for all your kind messages. Unfortunately, I have tested positive to COVID-19, but I can reassure you I am doing really well. I initially had a negative result from Dubai less than 24 hours of coming into Ghana, upon arrival into Ghana I tested positive and was asked to quarantine, I got a different doctor that tested me negative again.

“We had so many back and forth results of positives and negatives. But finally, I have tested positive. Please do not take COVID for granted and don’t try to be as stubborn as myself always. I have been placed in the best possible care and receiving treatment. I will be in Ghana until I am fully recovered and tested negative.

“I love you all and cannot wait to get back to work.”

Some fans after Maria’s statement have gathered to share some goodwill with her.

@joyobiese said, “Na over confidence make February no complete. After harassing them, they were right after all. Get well soonest.”

@_teetat wrote, “Quick recovery sha” while @kunle_real “On a POSITIVE note… She’ll pull through this”.
