Man hacks wife to death in Enugu

POLICE detectives in Enugu, Enugu State, have arrested  a middle-aged man for allegedly hacking his wife to death.

The incident was said to have occurred at Afia Nine, Obiagu Road in the heart of Enugu metropolis, last week.

Confirming the story on Thursday night , the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, said that  the police have begun full  investigation into the incident with a view to unearthing the  remote and immediate cause of the murder.

Amarizu, who said that the name of the deceased, a mother of four children, was  identified as one  Nkechi Nnamani,  was  hale and hearty as of last week before her husband,  Sunday Nnamani, allegedly hit her with an object on the head.

“It  left her  unconscious  and was consequently rushed to Park-lane Specialist  Hospital Enugu  where she was confirmed dead by the doctor,” the police spokesman stated.

“Meanwhile, operatives of the command are trying  to unravel the circumstances  surrounding the alleged unfortunate incident just as the dead body of Nkechi  has been deposited in a nearby mortuary”, Amarizu concluded.
