Malami mourns late Supreme Court Justice, Sylvester Ngwuta

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has condoled the families of late Justice of the Supreme Court; Sylvester Nwali Ngwuta.

In a condolence message to the family of the deceased Justice of the Supreme Court, Malami, said the death of the eminent jurist created a huge vacuum to the Nigerian Justice Sector and in particular the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Malami described the deceased as a great man who rendered selfless service that contributed immensely to nation-building, with particular reference to the judiciary and justice Sector.

He said the late Supreme Court Justice has contributed to the development of the legal profession and will never be forgotten in the history of the nation.

While offering special prayers for the eternal repose of the departed soul, Malami prayed that the family of the deceased have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Justices Ngwuta who died in the early hours of Sunday at the National Hospital Abuja, was due to retire from the Supreme Court bench on attaining the mandatory retirement age of 70 years, on March 30, 2021.

He was appointed to the Supreme Court bench, on March 22, 2011, and was born, on March 30, 1951, in Amofia-Ukawu, Onicha Local government of Ebonyi State.

His lordship had his basic education in the Eastern part of Nigeria and got his LLB at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), lle-ife in 1977 and BL at the Nigerian law school in 1978.
