LOYALISTS of the late former majority leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, late Yinka Mafe, under the aegis of Asiwaju Yinka Mafe Political Organisation, have expressed their commitment to sustain his legacy.
Mafe, died on the 4th of February, 2020, after celebrating his 46th birthday with prison inmates, at the Nigerian Correctional Services Centre, Sagamu and also with the elderly persons in his country home, Emuren.
According to a statement signed by the spokesperson of the group, Prince Lekan Lawal, “The demise of the late Asiwaju Yinka Mafe came and remains a rude shock to his family, friends and political associates.”
The statement further read that: “On Thursday, February 4, 2021, we visited an orphanage home and donated various items as part of efforts to sustain Mafe’s legacy and the organisation is leaving no stone unturned in order to ensure that this is done to the best of our ability.
“Mafe was in the business of impacting lives of the less privileged in the society and he never celebrated his birthday alone without visiting those classes of people in the society. Hence, the need for Mafe political family to celebrate his one first posthumous birthday with these set of people he lived his life for.”
Earlier in the day, a remembrance walk tagged: “REMEMBERANCE WALK’ 21 ASIWAJU YINKA MAFE” was organised in his honour. The walk started from Sagamu express junction and terminated at Ita Oba and was powered by Team Mafelafe.
Thereafter, a prayer was held at the graveside for the deceased at his country home in Emuren.
