Tragedy struck on Wednesday in the ancient town of Ijebu-Ode, as lightning struck three operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to death.
Sources told Tribune Online that the incident occurred after the affected personnel visited a food canteen, while another source reported that the officials died inside their office located at old Toll Gate axis, along Benin-Sagamu Expressway, at about 10.00 am.
The names and sex of the officials were not disclosed to newsmen, as there was no official confirmation from the Corp.
It was gathered that about 12 officials including the deceased were preparing for the day’s parade before the unfortunate incident happened.
The state FRSC Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, when contacted, said the State Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, was on his way to the scene of the incident.
However, at the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the FRSC to either confirm or deny the incident.
It was gathered that men of the Nigerian Army and operatives of the Nigerian Police, were at the scene of the incident, preventing onlookers and journalists from gaining access to the scene.
Information also had it that adherents of Sango worshippers were at the scene to perform traditional rites before their bodies could be removed.
