BBNaija Lockdown finalist, Victoria Adeleye, popular as Veeiye has officially released her debut EP tagged ‘Young And Reckless’, and according to the reality TV star, the name of the EP is a reflection of life before Big Brother Naija.
Speaking at the launch which took place at Landmark Towers in Lagos recently, Vee stated that music had always been a big part of her life.
“I have always been around music. My mother sings, my father plays the saxophone, so it was in my blood to make music”, she said.
On how she started making music, she revealed that while she had been writing songs all along, she didn’t actually start making music until age 17.
Speaking on how she settled on the title, Vee explained that the EP was originally to be titled ‘Young, Dumb and Reckless’ as before Big Brother, she had not really found her identity.
“Before Big Brother, I don’t think I had found my identity yet, I was just another artiste. I loved music, but I wasn’t sure if I was good enough to pursue it. Before Big Brother, I was young and reckless. I think young and reckless is a complete description of how I was before the house and a bit off in how I defined myself and how I sharpened myself up a bit.
“I decided not to put it out there because I wasn’t ready. I was unsure of if I wanted to study music or how serious I was, so I decided to put my personality out there first. I felt like I couldn’t embrace myself as an artiste yet if I don’t show people who I am as a person first.”
“I think about two months before I entered the house, I had followed Adekunle Gold when I said I wanted to do an EP. He told me to write as many ideas as possible and think about the songs in the project. It was actually meant to be ‘Young, Dumb and Reckless’. But then, I do consider myself quite a smart individual, so I got rid of the ‘dumb’ part and coined it ‘Young and Reckless’. And even when I came out of the house, I stuck with that because it just felt so right when I said ‘Young and Reckless’. I was 23 at the time and then to start this project ‘Young and Reckless’ and hopefully mature into something better, that was the idea.
The five-tracked EP features artistes like Laycon and Ladipoe and has her previously released single ‘Show’, and others like ‘Do It’ and ‘No Time’. BBNaija Lockdown winner Laycon steps up on ‘Enter My Heart’ while Ladipoe grinds out his tunes on ‘Forbidden Fruit’. Tracks on the EP were produced by Timothy King, Louddaaa, Eyes and Pheelz who also takes credit for mixing and mastering alongside Focus Ramon.
Present at the launch were BBNaija stars like Laycon, Nengi, Ozo, Neo, Pere, alongside a number of music industry icons including Don Jazzy.
