Some stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State have written to the state governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun to protest against alleged imposition of candidates in the October 8 local government election in the state.
Acting under the aegis of APC stakeholders, in Sango/Ijoko Local Council Development Area, they asked the governor to caution those behind such plan in the overall interest of the party.
According to them in the letter dated September 23, the members of various Community Development Associations in the council area had resolved to reject the imposition of an unpopular candidate by some leaders of the party.
The letter signed by Chief Jimoh Adisa and Elder Joel Emmanuel as chairman and secretary respectively, added that the yearnings of the grass-roots people which formed the block of voters should be respected in this regard.
The letter partly reads: “With every sense of responsibility and commitment to our great party, we the above named committed stakeholders wish to let you know the feelings of the ordinary man on the street who form the block of our voters.
“They have vouched never to vote for a particular candidature if the party makes any mistake of fielding him as the chairman of our LCDA. We, even held series of meeting with the Community Development Associations (CDA) and Community Development Council (CDC), and they were unanimous in their resolve not to vote for the said individual. They confirmed that they had written to your Excellency on this issue.
“In view of the above, we passionately appeal to your Excellency to influence the fielding of any other candidate. We pray that our great party will continue to wax stronger in all schemes in the national unity.”
