Let’s copy Prophet Muhammad’s example — Awujale

Published by

THE President-General of the Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC), Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, has charged Muslims to embrace Prophet Muhammad’s way of life by being faithful, truthful, honest, kind and patriotic in their undertakings for societal growth and development.

In a statement to commemorate this year’s Maolud, signed by the OMC Secretary-General, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, the traditional ruler congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and beyond on witnessing another celebration of the birthday of the Holy Prophet.

Oba Adetona noted that the Moulud Nabiy came on the heels of the 61st anniversary of the nation’s independence and implored the faithful to be patriotic and remain committed to the cause of nation building.

According to the traditional ruler, “the task of building the Nigeria of our dreams requires sacrifice, perseverance, obedience, equity, justice, good neighbourliness and patriotism.”

He called for attitudinal change, reorientation and patriotism on the part of the nation’s leaders and the citizens.

The OMC President-General equally implored Nigerians claiming to have been wronged to pursue legitimate means in seeking redress and eschew violence in order not to undermine “our collective march to progress.”

He charged the political class to be aboveboard and avoid any acts that could undermine “our fast-growing democracy.”
