Leprosy mission to provide more support for PWDs in Kogi

Leprosy Mission International has committed to providing ongoing support to people with disabilities across the three senatorial districts of Kogi State.

During a working visit to Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, the director of the mission, Mr. John Baeckrad, affirmed this commitment.

He highlighted that while the mission primarily focuses on people with leprosy, it has extended its programmes to encompass all individuals with disabilities in the state.

The mission’s primary goal is to develop additional programmes that can significantly enhance the lives of people with disabilities.

The Mission Country Coordinator, Mr. Pius Ogbu Sunday, emphasised the organization’s past and continued investment in supporting individuals with disabilities.

Mr Pius encouraged the recipients of the mission’s programmes to share the positive impact of the initiatives with individuals beyond Lokoja and assured them of the ongoing support provided by the mission.

Praise Tefken, representing the mission branch in Norway, expressed satisfaction with the empowerment and engagement of people with disabilities in Kogi State. She emphasised that the mission remains steadfast in its commitment and endeavours.

Another member, Glenn Larsen, a mission board chairman from Norway, urged individuals with disabilities in Kogi State to maximise the opportunities provided by the capacity training.

Alhaji Bella, Chairman of the leprosy movement in Kogi State, called for increased support in education and infrastructure development for individuals with disabilities.

Additionally, beneficiaries of the leprosy mission in Kogi State expressed gratitude for the support received while expressing the need for continued assistance.
