A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Epe Constituency I, Honourable Abiodun Tobun, has canvassed for better educational facilities for primary and secondary schools in Epe.
The lawmaker also said that many people were already disenchanted with the state of many public schools and roads in the area.
He noted that roads such as Eleran Igbe and Itan-Omu had been abandoned for years, while urging the government to consider rehabilitating them.
Speaking recently at a stakeholders’ meeting in Epe, the lawmaker said most classrooms in the schools were in bad shape.
“These schools are Christ Church Primary School, the primary school in Mowopa, Erepete, Ansar Ud Deen Primary School. Army Junior High School, Ogunmodede Junior School.
“Our people are also lamenting the bad road that leads to Epe Grammar School, which is the first secondary school in Epe Division, a missionary school established in 1954. The hostels are in bad shape.
“We feel that if the road is motorable, there won’t be need for the people to travel by water to the extent that their boat get capsized,” he added.
Tobun, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, said further that the people of the area are requesting for a health centre at Igbapawa and Imogido, and that they want a road in Ise that would link other areas.
He revealed that they are demanding that the dualisation of Lekki/Epe highway be completed to avert accident that had become a common occurrence on the road.
“We also have erosion problem in Epe, hence the people are demanding for the construction of a drainage in Itugbehin. They want the road in Mojoda to be dualised. They want all abandoned projects in the area to be completed,” he said.
On security, the lawmaker challenged residents to be security conscious, urging them to promptly report any strange movement to the police.
