Lagos task force arrests 110 illegal squatters on railway line

The Lagos State Task Force on the Environment and Other Related Offences early on Thursday arrested about one hundred and ten illegal squatters along the Agege-Iju Fagba railway line corridor.

The spokesperson of the agency, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, confirmed the arrest of the suspects to Tribune Online.

The Task Force spokesperson also stated that the arrest of the suspect was part of the continuous exercise by the Task Force Chairman, Shola Jejeloye to rid the railway lines of illegal occupiers.

He however added that the arrested suspects were immediately charged before the mobile court .

Gbadeyan also stated that the exercise would be a continuous one as the task force will ensure that all illegal squatters on the railway lines in the state are arrested.

Kunle Adesina, a Public Affairs Director in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, said “A total of 110 squatters with questionable characters were in the early hours of Thursday arrested during a clean up operation of he Red Line Corridor of Pen Cinema – Iju Fagba area and would be charged to court immediately.”
